  • Do I have a co-pay with telemedicine?

Yes, telemedicine visits are just like an in-person visit. If your insurance requires a co-pay or deductible, the same rules apply.

  • What will I need for a virtual visit?

An appointment, a lap top, desktop or phone with video capability and be in a well-lit room with your child.

  • What can you do to have the best telemedicine experience?
    • Have your child with you in a well-lit room that is as quiet and free of distractions (we know with everybody cooped up at home sometimes quiet is not possible)

    • Things to do before the visit:

    1. Get your child’s temperature
    2. Get your child’s weight
    3. If we are seeing your child for cough or shortness of breath, please count the number of breaths per minute (set your timer for 30 seconds, and put your hand on top of his chest and count 1 for every time the chest goes up and down)
    4. Have a flashlight or other light source handy
    5. Know your preferred pharmacy name and location

    • Things to think about:

    1. Your child’s symptoms, including how long they have had them and if they are getting better or worse
    2. How your child’s symptoms are affecting their eating, sleeping, and other activities. For example, are they drinking fluids, playful, consolable, or are they just crying all of the time?
    3. Any questions you have, as you might forget them during the telemedicine visit!

    • We may have you help us with your child’s physical exam such as removal of your child’s shirt to assess breathing, skin, holding your flash light and phone to your child’s nose and/or throat or even pushing on their stomachs.

If we are seeing your child for a rash,we will call give you information on how to send some close up pictures of the rash.

Once the appointment time is set up, you will be getting a text message with information on the link to the telemedicine visit.

If the providers determine that your child needs to be seen for a in - person appointment, the telemedicine appointment will not be charged.
